What is a skin infection and is it contagious?

My friend had the shingles about 3 weeks ago and now she has just found out that she has a skin infection in the exact same spot the shingles were. I am a little nervous about being around her cause i don't know if i can catch it or not? She works in the health care field and is most likely where she got it.

What is a skin infection and is it contagious?
If you got chicken pox as a child you might get shingles its an adult form but I never heard of anyone catching if from another person.

Reply:Shingles is a form of adult chicken pox and yes they are contagious.

There are many different types of skin infections and yes, some are contagious, just as your friend contracted the disease, so can you.
Reply:First of all, what skin infection she had?

Some of them are, of course.

Infection it is different from skin disease, k?
Reply:don't think shingles is infectious. they think shingles is caused by the virus that causes chickenpox but I think they have their heads up their rear end on this one. It's kind of like them saying HIV causes AIDS which is the opposite of what evidence says. Can't really trust medical experts.
