My dog seems to have lumps of dried skin on parts of his fur. Is it skin infection?

A friend said it is fungal infection.

Is it dangerous? What can I do - besides bringing it to the vet?

What medications are there?

I checked google and there are so many names - I've no clue which fits. It's like scales on the skin.

I don't think it is. Most dogs get this - However most people here wont be vets so any information given could be wrong and harmful to your dog.

If you have any concersn first phone a vet (cheaper that way)

and ask there advice. Or take dog to a vet. End of day you don't want anything serious to happen to your loved pet.

Again though - I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Reply:Take it to the vet ASAP. My puppy had the same thing then her hair started fallin out and we found out she has sarcoptic mange. It only cost around $20 a week for the vet to dip her in a medicated bath
Reply:no it is dry skin my dog had ddry skin so i put a little bit of oil in her water not much and for like a month or 3 weeks and my dog never had dry skin again
Reply:Hot spots its no worry, buy this stuff for hot spots , with tree oil rem that it works and my LADY!! she never got it back again! seriousley!
Reply:Dry skin or cancer? Only the vet can make a determined diagnosis. Depending on how much you love and care for your pet will make that decision to go.
Reply:OOps! You answered yourself! There are so many things about this in google you couldn't possibly know. I went through the same thing. So, that's why you have to take him to the vet. If it's mange, then the poor baby will get sprayed with some green stuff but the mange will be gone and your dog fine, though a bit green. Orrrr, he might be allergic to grass, like my little guy. I bathe him often, but then he's tiny. Couple of drops of oil,as noted, could be helpfu. Ask your vet what kind you could use, there are dozens of kinds especially made for dogs. (My dog can't tolerate the oils I use for cooking, don't know why.) Anyway, now he's fine 99% of the time. Whenever it comes up, a bath is all he needs. He's not dirty, he's allergic! Good Luck!
